WhatsApp has introduced a new feature called Chat Lock, providing users with an additional layer of privacy for their most sensitive conversations. This feature allows you to secure specific chats behind your device's password or biometric authentication, ensuring that even if someone has access to your phone, your private chats remain confidential.

Key Benefits of WhatsApp Chat Lock:

  • Enhanced Privacy: Locks individual chats, making them accessible only through authentication.
  • Notification Concealment: Automatically hides the content of locked chats in notifications.
  • Organized Interface: Locked chats are moved to a separate folder, decluttering your main chat list.

How to Enable Chat Lock:

  • Open WhatsApp: Launch the app on your device.
  • Select the Chat: Navigate to the conversation you wish to lock.
  • Access Chat Settings: Tap on the contact's name or group title at the top to open the chat info screen.
  • Enable Chat Lock: Scroll down and select the "Chat lock" option.
  • Activate Lock: Toggle on "Lock this chat with fingerprint" (or Face ID, depending on your device).

Once activated, the locked chat will move to a "Locked chats" folder. To access this folder:

  • Navigate to Chats: Go to the main Chats screen.
  • Reveal Locked Chats: Swipe down to reveal the "Locked chats" folder.
  • Authenticate: Use your fingerprint, Face ID, or enter your device password to access the folder.

Important Considerations:

  • Device Compatibility: Ensure your WhatsApp is updated to the latest version to access the Chat Lock feature.
  • Backup Awareness: Locked chats are included in backups but remain locked upon restoration.
  • Notification Settings: While the content of locked chats is hidden in notifications, the sender's name may still be visible.
