Why Do You Need a Facebook Business Manager Account?

As a business person, you likely are aware that WhatsApp API is an API by WhatsApp offered to select third parties (called Business Solution Providers or BSPs) to build a variety of marketing and CRM, including chat-bots, for business promotion, and selling of products and services, on WhatsApp. WhatsApp API allows for full-fledged conversations and engagement possibilities in service of selling and customer support.

To use the power of WhatsApp API you must register with an authorized third party solution (called Business Solution Providers or BSPs) such as BotSpace. That’s when you would need a verified Facebook Business Manager account.

Getting a verified Facebook Business Manager ID?

As part of the application process, you need to get a Facebook Business Manager account and you need to verify it. Facebook Business Manager Verification is different from Facebook Page Verification.

A Facebook Business Manager account enables you to:

  • Obtain WhatsApp Business APIs for your brand
  • Create separate ad accounts for every client or business you serve
  • Request access to client pages and accounts as an advertiser
  • Assign role based permissions to accounts, Pages and other assets that your business manages
  • Get business insight and reports

To verify your Facebook Business Manager, you must :

  • Have valid business documents
  • You must be an admin of the Business Manager account to verify your business.

Step 1

The first step is to visit https://business.facebook.com/create and create a business account if you don't already have one.

Step 2

On the left is the menu from which you select Business Settings, then Security Center, and then select the button that says Start Verification.

Start to fill in your Business Details.

This is where you would need valid documents for:

  • Proof of Legal Name, which includes Company Incorporation Certificate, Tax Certificate, etc
  • Proof of Address
  • Bank Account Statement

Once you have completed submitting these, you will get a One Time Password on your registered email id. This will complete the verification of your Business, and under Business Details, you will see your Business Info.

Step 3

The next step is Domain Verification. Go to Business Settings -> Brand Safety -> Domains -> Add Domains.

This grants you ownership of the domain associated with your Facebook Business Manager.

You could take the following route

Verify your DNS.
  • Visit the DNS settings page.
  • Insert  TXT type, new DNS record
  • Paste the TXT record provided by the Business Manager for verification in the content field
  • Go back to Business Manager and click Verify
HTML File Upload
  • Download the HTML file
  • Upload the file into your websites root folder
  • Go back to Business Manager and click Verify
Meta Tag Verification
  • In the homepage code of your website, open the <head> section
  • Add the meta tag in the HTML code of the <head> section
  • Confirm if the meta tag has been added by viewing the HTML source code of the homepage of your website
  • Go back to Business Manager and click Verify

Once the application for verification has been sent, it takes approximately 1- 5 business days for a response.

Alternatively, you could enter your work email instead of the Domain Verification Step. You will receive an OTP on your registered email.

What If your Start verification option is grayed out?

This often happens with new business accounts, usually those not using apps.

Follow these instructions to enable the button.

Step1

In the Settings page of your Facebook business manager account, visit "Registrations" from the left menu. And add your Facebook page there, as shown in the image:

Step 2

Visit "Security Center" from the left menu and Refresh your browser page.

Step 3

You will now see a "Start verification" button on the security center page. Click on it and follow the steps.
